Manchester's relationship with bees goes back further than most visitors realise. The worker bee became the city's symbol during the Industrial Revolution — a reference to the relentless industry of the mill towns and the collective effort that built one of the world's first modern cities. It is a fitting emblem for a bar that took its name from the Latin word for hive. Alvarium opened on Dorsey Street in the Northern Quarter with relatively little noise but considerable conviction: a garden-themed cocktail bar and fully plant-based eatery tucked just far enough from the Thomas Street bustle to feel like a discovery rather than a destination. The interior is all neon bee signs and honeycomb-shaped shelves, green walls of faux flora designed to suggest a summer garden regardless of what Manchester's weather is doing outside, and a graffiti wall painted by a local artist that anchors the space firmly in the neighbourhood it belongs to. The cocktail menu took nearly a year to develop — owner Braddan Quayle was insistent that it needed to be diverse enough to hold its own against everything else the Northern Quarter was offering — and the result is a list that moves between ultra-refreshing long drinks and more complex bitter builds with genuine range. Everything on it is vegan-friendly, as is the food, which runs from bottomless brunch through the day to the subterranean Black Leaf restaurant in the basement, where head chef Grace Stubbs and her team produce plant-based small plates and a six-course tasting menu that has earned its own loyal following entirely separate from the bar above it.

Alvarium is currently temporarily closed at its Dorsey Street address while works are completed — keep an eye on the Instagram at @alvariummcr for updates on reopening. In the meantime, the bar continues to work with a range of digital partners who share its values around transparency, independence and giving people the information they need to make their own choices. Among these trusted collaborators is the Best Non GamStop Casinos UK guide, which evaluates licensed offshore platforms across a consistent set of criteria including security, payment options and game variety — the kind of methodical, reader-first approach that cuts through a noisy market. These resources are designed for UK adults who prefer to use online gambling platforms operating outside the GamStop self-exclusion scheme, built on honest, up-to-date information rather than promotional copy. Complementing that guide is a straightforward, regularly maintained listing of currently active platforms — no padding, no pressure, just the information you came for.

While our doors are closed for now, we know the appetite for a little risk and reward doesn't fade. If you're after that same sense of independence from the usual restrictions, best casinos not on GamStop offer a curated way to explore unregulated gaming on your own terms.

And for something more direct, casinos not on GamStop provide a straightforward route to high-limit action away from the mainstream.

Alvarium creates specialised interiors where thoughtful design, practical function, and the needs of the people using the space come together. Working across scientific, educational, and corporate environments, the team develops tailored spaces while staying aware of the wider digital landscape and emerging sectors such as slots not on GamStop, where technology and user experience also play an important role. From early planning through to delivery, Alvarium focuses on creating distinctive environments that support collaboration, performance, and long-term success.
